E-mail us at mgluck@thevoguecity.com Consumers tend to make straightforward New Year resolutions: Spend less, save more and pay down debt. This year, it appears retailers want to change just one thing...their bottom line. The tried-and-true methods aren't working anymore as consumers learn to resist the urge to buy, so merchants are starting their own trends. According to Bloomberg, consumer spending stalled in December, with a rise of just 0.1 percent, as Americans took advantage of last...
Click to read more » Through the ages, women have never had a lack of complaints about the inequalities between men and women. Particularly when it comes to romance, dating and age, there's always been a lot to complain about. I wish I could say that I am not about to contribute to that litany of gripes, but oh no, I'm about to jump right in.
So, this whole "Cougar" thing. I wouldn't mind if that term got lost in the Bronx Zoo and was never heard from again. Or was shot...

You know what we are missing by beeing born in a country that allows us to buy at least 5 different types of eye cream(puffines, dark circles, wrinkles, upper eyelid, lower eyelid)? Well, for starters the creative common sense mind to fix dry skin with soy milk and know how to make summer foundation work in the winter. Thank God for the editors of InStyle, Ultimate Beauty Secrets, they came up with a must-have beauty bible, that offers us a number of cold weather tips that will have you looking your best. 1. Supplement Your Skin Routine 2. Brighten Up Refresh your complexion by dipping a washcloth in soy milk and resting it on your face for 10 minutes once a week. Soy is a skin brightener and contains phytoestrogen, a plant-derived estrogen that is thought to help prevent wrinkles. 3. Stay Hydrated 4. Adjust Your Color 5. Moisturize Dry Lips The book is available now for $22.95 in bookstores nationwide and at InStyle.com/ultimate. I guess we can even buy common sense in our good Ol’ USA. Let me just start by saying that this is not a paid advertisement.
I’ve been working a lot from home this past year. One of the perks of this arrangement is getting to spend time with Socrates, my beloved dog. The others: not having to get dressed and not putting makeup on every morning. Could I go a week without makeup? Yes, my dog wouldn’t mind it. And by the time my husband comes home from work; he is so tired, I doubt he cares if I wear makeup or not. My life allows me to wear jeans and not put lipstick on every morning. But there are a lot of women in the corporate world, who have to maintain a certain look, and wearing makeup is sometimes part of it. That’s where I have a problem with the “No Makeup Week” initiative. In case you haven’t heard about it - it is a movement started by the Chicago freelance writer, Rachel Rabbit White, who decided to swear off makeup for seven days, letting the readers of her successful sex journalism blog in on the challenge. It appears that more than 300 people pledged to take the challenge on Facebook and young women sent photos of their nude faces to be posted on the blog. I applaud the idea of getting young women to adhere to a cause. I respect the women who don’t get pressured into conforming to rules they are not comfortable with. However, the disproportioned amount of attention it got from major publications like
We are really sorry for the recent screw-ups and don’t want to lose your confidence.
