BELLINO SAMPLE & STOCK SALE November 14-16, Fri - Sun 10-8 Chelsea Market 75 Ninth Avenue (15-16 Streets) suite 2307
Unlike other sample sales I’ve been to, the customer service was exceptional. When I got the card from the handsome Italian guy who helped me I found out he was the VP of Operations, Mr. Gianni Romagnolo de Laurentis. Hold your horses ladies, the lovely fiancée was there helping as well. We got there 20 minutes after opening so the Chelsea crowds were not up yet but I would assume it got really busy later on. This time around they rented a lovely space in the Chelsea market; we’ll let you know where they will hold the next one.

You Spin Me Right Round, Baby. Right Round. Theme restaurants are très cheesy. They invest all their energy into creating a space-age, grease-lightening, or prehistoric atmosphere while the food is so-so, and you end up feeling silly for hanging out in Barney’s V.I.P. room. So when a friend suggested brunch at VYNL this past weekend, I was reluctant, but pleasantly surprised. All three convenient locations: Hell’s Kitchen, UES, UWS and Chelsea have just enough “vynl” to be funky and fun without drowning you in some roller-disco, tripped out amusement park of a café. Plates were about ten bucks each, fabulously yummy, and were interesting enough without being weird. The service was great and not one server said “groovy” or offered to take a souvenir photo. They have generous drink specials Mon-Sun including $3 draft beers and $6 Absolute concoctions- not too shabby for The Vogue Cit-ay. Grab a bite and see for yourself, or hit their bar for some chart-topping bevs. Click on www.vinyl-nyc.com. Rock on! While a decent winter coat can set you back a bit, a decent winter coat that keeps you looking as good as it does warm can set you back two months’ rent; conscious acquisition of applicable cold weather accessories for New York’s tundra-like winters, therefore, is key. So, ladies, leave your Uggs at home: there’s a new way to warm up your winter wardrobe without breaking fashion rules – or the bank. Ear muffs, a clever cross between hat and headband, are pulling themselves out of nostalgia and pushing into present day, reviving even the most drab of slush-abused parkas. Pair them with last fall’s pashmina scarf and camel military jacket for an urban twist, or with a classic peacoat and woolen mittens for a look reminiscent of yesteryear. Keeping toasty while avoiding ubiquitous hat hair with change to spare for a peppermint mocha latte: what more could a fashionista ask for? Ironically enough, Ugg does make an ear muff (and a cute one at that):
As does Pucci – though still leaning towards splurge, even at half off:
And J. Crew, for East Coast prepsters and those who just want to look boarding school cool: Now, if only an accessory existed that turned blah winter skin to a sunny glow, served little pink drinks with umbrellas and gave me unlimited access to the Spring 2009 collections… a girl can dream, can’t she? I went to the Bellino sample sale yesterday to review it for you and I ended up spending $700. Oh well- I guess it’s an occupational hazard. I bought two satin sheet sets, a blanket and a duvet set. I have to say that the selection was amazing and after a night of sleeping on my new sheets I see why people would pay three times what I paid: Flat Sheet Satin $80; Fitted Sheet $80; Duvet Set Satin $100, Blanket Quilted $150.
